Can Witchcraft “Backfire”?

The short answer is No.

The long answer is: you CAN accidentally manifest a negative outcome for yourself with negative thinking. Belief is the most powerful force of will that human beings possess. It is the energy that guides all intentional energetic shifts, transformations, and manifestations.

Witchcraft is a tool, and like with any tool that’s powerful enough to be immensely useful, it can also cause harm if not handled properly. While that may sound scary and intimidating, it’s far more mundane than that.

Just like your kitchen knife. It’s a useful tool, versatile, and it can be used for very simple, or very complex tasks. But everyone who’s ever handled a sharp kitchen knife knows that a little caution is required for a safe experience. If you hold it wrong, or go too fast, or don’t pay attention, . . . then *ouch*!

The same exact principal applies to weather or not witchcraft can “Backfire”.

A professional witch can ensure that this won’t happen with the same confidence you may feel if you took a professional cooking class and had a master Chef guide you through expertly slicing your veggies.

So when a witch tells you that you need to “Set your intention” this is a big part of what that means. It not only means setting a target, but protecting yourself from harmful energies and outcomes while doing so.

When You Sage A Room . . .

When you sage a room, does the sage cleanse it or does your belief in the cleansing cleanse it? Witchcraft works on a combination of Physical and Metaphysical input and action.

Certain objects, or ritual acts, or sensory input can all contribute to the particular energy that something exudes. Sage for example, has a particular smell when burned that feels grounding and clean for some seemingly inexplicable reason. It’s not just “Because we’ve always done it that way”.

And it’s not the sage itself either. It’s the way it’s bundled into a smudge stick, it’s the way you move counterclockwise with it to pull in positive and dispel negative energy. A walking meditation, each step towards an intent, holding the Sage Smudge Stick like a torch of light through a dark forrest.

When you sage a room, you don’t just sage a room.

Objects are only objects until we make them something more.

And we Do have that power.
